Youth Mental Health Aid is an education course that teaches adults about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of common and disabling mental health problems, including crisis situations.
Topics covered include depression, anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders and suicidal thoughts and behaviours.
You will learn how and where to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness, what help research has shown to be effective and how to provide first aid in crisis situations.
This blended course consists of self paced e-learning (approx 6 hours) followed by a full day face-to-face session led by 2 licensed Principal Master MHFA instructors.
Learn about the latest research in the mental health field, work through complex mental health first aid interactions, and practice mental health first aid skills across a range of mental health problems and crisis situations.
Complete a short assessment at the end of the course to extend your accreditation for a further 3 years.
